A Pink Wife

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful wife. She wore a pink frock, pink lipstick & blonde hair. Everybody who saw her would scream to buy her. Everybody who bought her would play with her. Slowly, she changed the people she lived with. They wanted to become like her. They wanted to become pink. They wanted to become The Wife.
The Wife was carved by a beautiful woman named Gratis who spend her days writing words in the barks of the mango tree her mother had planted 20 years ago. One day, her mother asked her, 'Gratis why do you hurt trees?' I don't hurt my mango tree Ma, I draw with powder on its brown canvas'.

Days passed when her drawings were rubbed & removed by the blue rains. It looked as if the words were melting snow. Slowly removed, drop by drop. Her mother's tinkering laugh sounded like bamboo's flute to Gratis until she said, 'your words are not permanent.' 'But my happiness on carving them is' thought she.
Another day in her forest brought lightning along with a family of 3 rabbits under her mango tree. Her mother opened her mouth & said a meaningless word, 'aww'. Inspired, Gratis decided to write it on her tree. Her actions made her mother angry. 'Gratis, these words are not permanent. Look at those rabbits. Pink ears & a pair with a kit. They are a family. Their happiness is permanent.'
Gratis was hurt. She decided to make something pink & permanent & happy. She picked up the wood her mother had kept for making fire & carved her own self. She used all of her mother's wisdom. 'Its time for you to get married; don't wander or you will be lost; If you lose your way home, you will forget me...'
Her creature was pink like their ears, white like their fur, soft like their eyes & beautiful like their walk. A few days later, when the rabbits left, she gifted the doll to her now, a sad mother. 'You look like a wife', smiled her mother. She placed it on her kitchen window sill & started crying.

Deepak Sehgal deserves a national award

At the end of the movie, when everyone was walking away, these words fell on my ears & I stopped
my feet but my determination started walking.. again...

When Deepak Sehgal fills the ink in the words of Tanveer Ghazi,
it made my dead heart,
beat.

This poetry ends the movie PINK -

Tu khud ki khoj me nikal
Tu kis liye hatash hai
Tu chal tere vajood ki
Samay ko bhi talaash hai

Jo tujhse lipti bediya
samajh na unko vastra tu

Jo tujhse lipti bediya
samajh na unko vastra tu

ye bediya pighaal kar
bana le inko shastra tu

Tu khud ki khoj me nikal

I host a show called Kaun Banega Crorpati and on the hot seat one day I had a young lady about 23 years old  who had reached the hot seat. I asked her where she came from. She said, "mai ek chote se gaav se ayi hu"(I come froma small village). I asked her, her life story. She said, 'after the 7th standard, her father stopped educating her. Because he said, ' tumhare upar mai aur paise, waste nahi karna chahta hu kyunki uske baad tumhari shaadi ho jayegi'. (I dont want to waste anymore money on you because after that you will get married)

'Apne paise zaya kyu karu tumpe?' (Why should I waste my money on you?). That is hurtful. This girl never listened to the parents, she revolted. She was thrown out of the house. She went to her grandmother's house, vaha bhi uske sath, aisa anyaay hua, tarah tarah ki uske sath badsalooki hui. (She suffered the same injustice there as well & was abused in various manners). But she continued to study on her own. And she landed up on the hot seat.

And I want to tell you, (insert audience clapping including me listening to his words), at the end of the game show, she won 25 lakh rupees. And when I asked her what she is going to do with this cheque? She said, 'I am going to take this cheque, to my father, and tell him, that even a daughter, is an asset to the family.

I have words of my own to write but so much beauty, calls to be spread -

Bras offend
So do breasts

And what do you know?

So does a flat chest

Skirts are a no-no
Because legs are bare
Jeans bhi mat pehno
Because legs are there
(What about a long skirt?
Dilemma, yaar!
Brb consulting my book of sanskaars)
What if I cover myself
From head to toe?
*cough* secularism *cough* security *cough*
Sorry. But no.
Enough! I renounce clothing
From now I will be nude
No way! What do you think you are –
A dude?
PINK is BLUE - BLUE is PINK
human expectations are different
