BADUMBAA

NOTE: PLEASE PLAY THIS FOR MOBILE USERS, FOR A COMPLETE STORY. THANK YOU :)

When The Banyan Tree decided to plant a small seedling, his feelings were only described by his roots coming to a still on a windy day when he saw a little blue flower blooming on his baby seedling. He decided to name it Bamboo, after his own first letter 'B'.

Banyan was full of life, musical & caring tree. Banyan's greatest ambition was to be in a drama. He preferred the animals calling him "SIR DRAMA QUEEN". But after Bamboo came, he forgot his first ambition.

Daily, he used to shrink his leaves into himself when the raindrops started falling & let them back into the air to cover Bamboo once he felt he had bathed & drunk to his heart's content.

Bamboo was now shooting upwards in the air. There was no stopping him. His back was straight like those military-green shirt-bearers, he was lush green & smelled bamboo fresh to the ladies. He was the apple of Banyan's eye or the bamboo of his falling roots.

It was a monsoon when Bamboo fell in love. Bamboo was gay so naturally, he did not show interest in the females, period

Neither did he show interest in the males of the farm. He saw a stout, fat-bellied man walking towards him with an excitement of a lover coming to pluck flowers for his darling. Never had anybody walked towards him with such excitement or purpose. He was beautiful but useful only because of his exterior organ, his blue flower.

He proposed his flower to the man who gladly took it. In return, he promised to take care of his flower & come back to see him often but at the moment, he had to leave. And leave he did.

The Banyan Tree kept silent during the conversation. The man used to send letters, The Banyan kept silent. The man once sent pictures of the now dead flower & its sprout which he had buried in the earth. The Banyan kept silent. Bamboo kept waiting. No more flowers came on Bamboo after his first.

The Banyan tree kept silent for 65 years until one day he got a trunkache. It was normal for Bamboo to get trunkaches but Banyan had never once let his leaves fall or his barks complain. He decided that the time had now come to fulfill his greatest ambition.

SCRIPT:

Banyan: Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh
Bamboo: Father! Father! What hurts?
Banyan: My heart & my trunk!
Bamboo: I can only heal your trunk. How can I heal your heart?
Banyan: There is a red rose flower behind our farmhouse. Get me that & its scent will heal me.
Bamboo: A flower? Why do you need a flower?
Banyan: Because I want to gift myself a red rose. It is Valentine's Day you aged idiot!

'I have never left our farmhouse', says a scared Bamboo but he relented seeing his Drama Queen's puppy roots, 'Alright I will get you a rose flower.' After crossing the farmhouse, Bamboo takes up the entire day to cross a 2-hour long forest. Forst, he got scared, then curious, on discovering that the small jumpy sounds were being made by a woody squirrel & her small white friend fighting over a nut. Slowly, his walk became calm.

Excited to be at the end of his journey, he began running until he reached a garden of thorns. There were no roses. He started crying bitterly. But instead of blaming his father, he started cursing his lover. The stout fat bellied man.

He cried until the rain started falling. 'I am crying for a reason but why are the clouds crying?' wondered he. He suddenly remembered the first shower he had & how the next day, he had a blue flower like an adornment on his green self.

'They are crying because I am crying'. 'They were showering when I wanted to shower.' I will give my father a flower, saying this he blew his nose as loudly as he could & showered & drank again to his heart's content.

He slept, waited, sang until the morning of the 6th day when he opened his eyes & saw a blue flower blooming.
