Uncomfortable Conversations - Part 4 (EVERYTHING IS UNTOUCHABLE)

True Story

A man was hit by a truck at around 12 pm. One of his legs severed from his body.
He was half dead from the pain itself ,forgetting the broken and tangled mass, blood & nerves.
There were 2 policemen on the road but who would touch the now gross looking puke inducing mass(leg)
The man walked on one leg carrying his broken leg all the way to the hospital around 4 km away.
He finally reached hospital 2 hours later.

Next day on duty, the policemen were showing their concern over the morning tea, “I hope. . .Someone took him to the hospital.”
Had it been their daughter or son?
Then, would the situation be reversed?

Where the courage to let the wings open or
burning them can change a life

COURAGE...is all it takes

For the better or worse

7 lessons from MARDAANI

1)watching a movie is easy
forgetting even easier

watching a rape is hard
talking about it...is even harder

2)self defense ,not on the spot passion
A boy was killed outside a theatre by a few girls after watching the movie
The same happened after delhi gang rape.
Did it stop the harrassment?

3)Yes female race take things personally
& that is why thousands of soldiers died in Mahabharata.
In other words, just call it loyalty... to HUMANITY

4)media will ask, Is it a crusade against men?
the one who should fill, creates the divide.
Ask, Is everything business?

6)Use of saree
A mother a fighter
weather of  a villain or of a school girl

7)Breed people, not ravages in your love.
She encouraged it...She could have stopped it.
Simple, yet that is what the villain's mom did.

Do not give unequal priviledge to anyone of your child if another child cannot have them. They learn arrogance, forget humility.

Child Trafficking is just an example. Learn SELF DEFENSE

Uncomfortable Conversations - Part 2

GIFTING DEATH...THE ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE

The age old rhyme...
WATER WATER EVERYWHERE
NOT A DROP TO DRINK

Indeed a charitable cause or simply put insufficiency of COMMON SENSE!!!

To put the waste this campaign has caused into simple terms, let’s just assume everyone is using a five gallon bucket. Now multiply that number by the more than 1.2 million videos shared on Facebook since June 1. Based on that assumption (5 x 1,200,000), over 6 million gallons of water have been poured out in the name of Lou Gehrig’s Disease. The average American household uses 320 gallons per day, which means that based on this estimation, nearly 19,000 homes’ daily water usage has been wasted. And that’s not even taking into account that videos posted online often depict multiple people, sometimes even entire sororities or fraternities, taking part in the ice bucket challenge, often using more than one bucket per video.

Moreover,
The donations are sidelined... its just for the adrenaline rush.
Try living in california or a drought hit slum for a day

CHALLENGE:
GIVE A BUCKET FULL TO SOMEONE WHO DOES'NT HAVE A DROP TO DRINK
DO NOT BATH FOR A DAY
LET THEM DRINK

CAN YOU SACRIFICE A BUCKET???

Wasting is easy
Living without it is not

Uncomfortable Conversations - Part 1

Last Night I had a call from a woman, a mother figure.

Woman: Good evening beta, I don't like your coverpic. Its not good..
Me: What is the correction that is needed? Tell me & I'll try to improve.
Woman: You should'nt upload such things. "Blood"
Me: Why? Why is spilling blood a bad thing?
Woman: Oh...It does not feel good to see such things.

Me: Will you leave a man dying if there is too much of "SPILLING BLOOD"?

The topic was abruptly changed.

(In a relative's verified memory) A man with his broken leg in his hand was trying to get himself to a hospital post accident and nobody came forward to help.

Akshat Drama Group - Experience

Small, but a wave, of change

After the performance of "You Discriminate" at Seva Cafe, a young woman in her mid-twenties from Kerela walked up to me and talked about all her sufferings even though she hails from an affluent family. She said that she had never opened up about her life before this, but now, she will. As its owner, I had never been more proud of Akshat for waking courage in a heart.

Gagan Sethi, owner of Janvikas, Conflictorium, Center for Social Justice & Nyayika cried & hugged the artist (statue) when he saw him in his statue form in "Everything is Untouchable".

The street children of Mirzapur cried and confessed their bad habits and vowed to never repeat them again during "Pankhi-Mujhe udne to do". Few promised to never gamble again, one of them got the guts to confess that he commented on a girl of his age that he'll make her pregnant at the age of 10!

Such were the experiences which moved us, gave us a reason for why we should continue.

Akshat Drama Group does not believe in doing a job & leaving. We created a theatre group "Pankhi" for the street children of Mirzapur which they may use as a means to create an identity for themselves.

I posed for a bare back photograph for “Everything is Untouchable” exhibition which has been my biggest confidence booster in life, for if I myself don’t believe in the cause, there was no point in doing an entire exhibition on it.

Everything Is Untouchable

A live exhibition created to express the hypocrite thought process prevalent in society & instead of presenting history, we chose to showcase live incidences including the Delhi gang Rape, my brother’s accident wherein no one standing there was ready to touch his mutilated leg & yet could talk about him hopefully reaching the hospital, a cartoon comic video with an educated professor pushing away a poor man because he accidently touched his hand & washing it in front of him. The tour of the exhibition ends with a choice, to accept the truth & hang the live statue to death or accept him, a man dripping with blood & gore.

Pankhi

Mujhe udne to do

A theatre group formed by Akshat for the street kids of Mirzapur, to give them a platform to develop, channelize their energies from gambling to acting, to make them a better person because all they need is a chance. It was a 3 month workshop including street plays, expert guidance, documentary filming the experience felt by the kids & a grand finale performance.

You Discriminate

Education starts at home, so does discrimination

A blend of forum theatre and street play, the 15 minute play turned into an hour long debate and passionate participation from the audience at Seva Café & conflictorium. The play focused on discrimination inside the home for improving the roots is better than colouring the leaves.

Kathputli ka Khel

Designed to promote the art of story-telling & lost tales of India, this performance was covered by Ahmedabad Mirror & Divya Bhaskar.

Chotu Chaiwala

Because the dream never dies

Venturing into short movie production with a story which ventures deep into education & human perspective, the campaign began with screening across 10 cafes & 1 digital outlet in Ahmedabad.
